ORANGERY AND CONSERVATORY PRODUCT LIFE EXPECTANCY GUARANTEES

As a specialist design and build company, unlike most companies who are restricted in choice to one or two products, we work with multiple products which gives you complete freedom of choice.

PLEASE NOTE:
Manufacturers warranties and company warranties all vary, but one of the most important factors to remember is the key phrase – LIFE EXPECTANCY.

The Life Expectancy of a will usually exceed supply line guarantees and is an extremely important factor in choosing a product from your chosen supplier. A supplier may retire or cease trading, so it is essential that your chosen purchase is well installed and known for its longevity.

The information below will help you make the right choice. The products chosen by Bespoke Design Rutland are included because they exceed competitors’ specifications.

THE MATERIALS USED FOR OUR TIMBER ORANGERIES

AFRICAN SAPELE WOOD

African Sapele hardwood is now the number one choice for exterior and interior applications and is our preferred choice of material for building our traditional orangeries.

We do also work with other timber when it is specifically requested, however we choose African sapele first as it is much stronger and harder than mahogany, which is also now restricted in use. Sapele timber has a Life expectancy of 50 years:

MEDITE TRICOYA

Another key component we use, albeit as small part of the orangery build, is in orangery facia and feature posts, is Tricoya®

Medite Tricoya® is a groundbreaking construction material. It delivers dimensional stability, improved durability, and is exceptional for outdoor construction use.

This material is currently made using the same process as regular MDF, but uses Accoya as a raw material.

Accoya is a treated softwood, which offers superior stability, moisture resistance and longevity compared to all species of solid timber; we regularly use this product in specific high specification external joinery applications. We chose to use this material for our orangery fascia and our feature posts for stability because in tests this material has been buried and exposed to water for many years and has not changed in its size, shape or composition, making it the perfect choice for mitred components. Life expectancy guarantees it for 50 years when used outside.

GLULAM BEAMS

These structural beams are used as the main structural support for our orangery roofs.
They are lighter than steel and reinforced concrete beams and, importantly they are fire resistant.

Glulam beams used within our orangeries roof structure will exceed 100 years.

FIBRE GLASS ROOFING

The roof of your orangery is clearly important and our orangeries benefit from the installation of a fibre glass roof. The way in which they’re constructed makes them seamless and without any there’s no chance of a leak. The life expectancy of a fibre glass roof is 50 years plus.

RATIONEL WINDOW SYSTEMS

The Rationel window systems we install when used for orangeries are the Aura Plus and Forma Plus, as they’re proven to deliver several benefits. If you’re looking for a traditional look and little maintenance this is ideal.

Externally the finish is aluminium but internally it’s finished beautifully in timber from managed, sustainable forests. This product is the latest addition to our range and has a life expectancy of 83 years.

MAINTENANCE FREE ALUMINIUM ORANGERIES

If you’re looking for that modern maintenance free look and prefer the more contemporary, cleaner lines than timber, an aluminium orangery is ideal..

The aluminium orangeries we build are available in any RAL colours you choose.
You can, for example, choose an external colour and have a different colour inside.
At the time of writing, the most popular is Anthracite grey outside and white inside.
This product has a life expectancy of 50 years.

MAINTENANCE FREE PVCu ORANGERIES

PVCu is still sometimes used for orangeries but it needs the additional support of structural beams.
It is a durable maintenance free product, but it does need regular looking after and has a life expectancy of between 20 and 30 years. It’s available in several colours but white and timber finishes are still the most popular.

GLAZING

The choice in glazing is seemingly endless, from security glazing, toughened safety glass through to glazing that stops traffic noise. You can choose from variable Georgian bar finishes and lead designs, it’s your personal choice.

You could have double glazing or triple glazing. For orangeries southwest facing choose solar glass which keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter.

Double glazing in harsh exposed areas should have a life expectancy 20 years but in more sheltered areas can last up to 30 years. Long term performance however is often down to how well the glazing is installed.

Hopefully, that gives you a few insights into what you can anticipate and expect in terms of the lifetime of an orangery or conservatory.
